À la recherche d'un nouveau capitaine après le départ de Fernandinho, Pep Guardiola a pris la décision de confier le brassard à Ilkay Gundogan pour cette saison. Arrivé à Manchester City en 2016, l'international allemand n'a pas caché sa fierté sur les réseaux sociaux, ce dimanche.
« Je suis fier d'être le capitaine de cette équipe incroyable et de ce grand club. J'ai déjà porté le brassard auparavant, mais être nommé capitaine officiel pour la première fois est vraiment un grand honneur. Je vais continuer à tout donner sur et en dehors du terrain pour que cette saison soit très réussie », a déclaré le milieu de terrain de 31 ans.
